Shrinking Season 2
SPOILER FREE
by Valerie Cameron
The second season of Shrinking lives up to expectations. Once again, we find ourselves in California with the beloved cast of characters, all striving to navigate their lives.
Ford, Segal, and Williams portray therapists working together at the same practice. Alongside their quirky friends and neighbors, these characters face significant life-changing events. Without revealing too much, some of the challenges they encounter are quite intense, showcasing the show's strength in humanizing the characters and making their struggles relatable. My husband and I were taken aback by certain decisions made by the characters, feeling the same nervousness and stress they experienced. From coping with a family member's death to discussing PTSD when loved ones struggle to comprehend it, as well as themes of infidelity, new relationships, and life-altering illnesses, this season delves into a variety of compelling storylines.
If you haven't watched season one yet, I highly recommend doing so before following the characters' journeys week by week as they unfold. You will become engrossed, emotionally invested, and fully immersed in the story. I have rewatched season one multiple times and anticipate the same for season two. This series is a heartwarming, well-crafted narrative with exceptional performances, making it one of the best streaming shows I've seen.
Once the season concludes, return here for my detailed analysis of the showrunner's, cast's, and creators' decisions. In the meantime, I'm eager to hear your thoughts on what you enjoy or dislike about Shrinking.
