Eternals
Rated PG-13
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around for a while now. With more than 20 films leading us to this point, it is hard to imagine we will be able to lock onto another world of Super Heroes and love them as much as Ironman and Thor. “Eternals” introduces us to what will be an epic an exciting new team of Super Heroes. They are a group of ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, they are forced to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.
They thought they got rid of the Deviants centuries ago, but a strange turn of events puts Earth at the risk of extinction. While there are a lot of problems with this film, from the awkward love story to some very unrealistic timelines, it is entertaining and compelling. The cast alone is incredible; Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and more are all on screen together and they don’t get lost.
The new story does touch “Endgame” and the story already put in place by the main MCU. It is a wild ride with Super Heroes, Villains, Mythology, Science, love triangles, awesome suites and historical pasts that makes you want to keep watching. It was a good spring board to what is to come. Not the best MCU movie in the bunch, but a start in the right direction. I have to say that one of the things I am most impressed with is the inclusion and representation in the film.
